CHICAGO, IL, July 20 — As sales training giant Holden International steps into the future at its new downtown Chicago headquarters, it will do so in a building that has its own glorious past.

On Friday, July 23, Holden will officially open its doors at the 135 South LaSalle Building. Located in front of the Chicago Board of Trade in the city's vibrant financial district, the building also occupies a prominent place in the history of business architecture.

Financed by legendary retailer Marshall Field and originally known as the Field Building, the building was an ambitious 43 stories tall-and, in fact, was the even grander successor to the world's first skyscraper, a 10-story structure that had once stood on part of the same site.

The Field Building's trailblazing Art Deco design and massive size reflected Mr. Field's intention that it become the foremost office building in Chicago. After its completion in 1934, fate intervened in favor of that ambition, making it the last tall structure to go up in Chicago for more than 20 years. In modern times, it became famous once again as the LaSalle Bank Building, and then as the Bank of America building.

"The Field Building and Holden are made for each other-what was old and venerable is new again," said an exuberant Ryan Kubacki, president of Holden International.

"Our move reflects the exciting new developments at Holden. After more than 30 years on top, we're rolling out a new, highly experienced management team, a newly updated selling philosophy, a new book, new learning materials, and a new worldwide Alumni Network," Kubacki said. "Where better to do it than a place that's historically been a symbol of ambition for the entire business world?"
